Perhaps you have enjoyed playing cricket in the past. But these days work and family obligations make it difficult to commit to a full season. Or perhaps you find the physical demands of competitive matches every week quite challenging. Apart from the increasing generation gap. If you still yearn to get back on the field and enjoy a match or two, flexibly suited to your availability or at a level more suitable, then SGS offers the perfect cricketing opportunities for you.

For almost 100 years SGS has offered an ‘à la carte’ system for cricket lovers of all levels who would like to play matches on days that suit them. We are a ‘virtual’ nationwide cricket club without a home ground or club room. Our matches are played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at host clubs around the Netherlands, so you can choose the dates and venues that suit you. And you often play with peers of your own age and generation.

SGS organizes matches against teams from several clubs within the Netherlands as well as internal matches within SGS.
We also play against visiting clubs from abroad and represent the Netherlands each year in the ‘Four Nations Tournament’ played against Spain, Denmark and England.

The social aspect of the club also fosters long friendships well into our twilight years.
SGS members believe in conviviality and respect for each other, no matter what cricketing ability each of us has.

SGS also has a golf section that organizes about 6-7 rounds of 18-hole events throughout the summer.

Membership in SGS is open to everyone above the age of 35, of all genders and nationalities. Especially during internal matches, we strive to ensure that everyone can bat and/or bowl. Our aim is to enable you to play matches regardless of your previous or current level or abilities.

We keep the annual membership fee low (2025 – € 35). Additionally, you pay a nominal match fee (2025 - € 20) on the days that you play; this fee covers coffee, lunch and drinks/snacks in the ‘third innings’. After the season you pay field rental for each match you play (2025 - € 5 euros p.m.).

During the cricket season we publish a weekly newsletter with match reports, announcements and photos. Our website (sgscricket.nl) includes club information and archives rich with club history and facts.

In the upcoming 2026 season, in addition to our regular activities, we will organize the annual Four Nations Tournament at the Salland Cricket Club in Deventer. And we will pay more attention to matches for players aged 35-55.
